Make decorating disasters a thing of the past with Design Space

Tuesday, July 14th, 2015

We’ve all been there. When the promising idea of a freshly updated interior looks nothing like the finished reality.  And by the time we realise, it’s usually way too late, leaving homeowners up and down the country stuck with disappointing décor and uninspired colour schemes. But not anymore…

Design Space

Design Space is a free online tool that can unleash the creativity of would-be interior designers, whilst taking the uncertainty out of what type of blinds would look best in a room’s new colour scheme.

Apollo Blinds is the first window blind retailer in the UK to provide a ‘try before you buy’ visualisation tool, that allows you to:

– decide which window blinds and colour combinations work before making a purchase

– view venetian blinds, roller blinds, vertical blinds and pleated blinds in a range of colours and patterns

– visualise within a choice of room settings – from kitchens and modern bathrooms to traditional dining

Mike Stephen from Apollo Blinds said:  “It’s often difficult choose from the huge selection of window dressings available, this leads to many people playing it safe. Design Space gives you an accurate representation of how your ideas will look in real life.

“People now have the freedom to experiment with colour and pattern like never before – and I’d urge people to go wild, perhaps try clashing colours or test out darker or bolder hues; they might just find the winning combination that they’d never have dreamed of using without Design Space.”

Design Space is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4

1)   Pick a room to decorate. Users can choose from a range of roomscapes to best match their interior at home.  Settings include living rooms, dining rooms, offices, children’s rooms, kitchens and conservatories in a choice of classic, traditional, modern, country and vibrant styles.

2)   Select a fabulous Apollo Blinds product to visualise.

3)   Experiment. Play around with different colours and designs for the product.  Change the colour of walls and accessories and even compare blinds by hanging a different design at each window (as shown in the children’s room below).

4)   Favourites can be stored by using the ‘add to favourites tab’.  These can then be requested as samples and downloaded as PDFs to take into store or to give to an Apollo Blinds design consultant.

Free blinds for Liking Facebook George

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

George Stewart is quickly becoming the most popular man in Hamilton – and beyond – following the success of a promotion where he gives away free window blinds to people who like the Facebook page of his Apollo Blinds business.

He saw a 20% increase in the number of people who clicked the Like button on his www.facebook.com/apollohamilton social media website last month as a result of offering £100 of free blinds.

Apollo Hamilton FacebookAll the people who liked his site that month were entered into a prize draw and George announced the winner – who very kindly donated her prize to Cancer Support Scotland.

The reason that George is putting up the monthly prize is that social media sites such as Facebook have become an influential online shop window to market his business.

“Our Facebook page is a great way for other Facebookers to get to know us and also see all the beautiful blinds we fit in homes all across Hamilton,” he said.

“I’ve built up a huge library of photo examples of my work on Facebook which has resulted in an increasing number of customers going on the site and asking for the same products.

“The beauty of Facebook is that customers become part of my Apollo Blinds experience and join in with the antics on the site.”

As well as being Hamilton’s most popular seller of window blinds, awnings and shutters, George’s antics on Facebook include the banter with Radio Clyde presenter Robin Galloway and the mysterious Waheed McManus who keeps popping up on the show.

George believes his business is booming at a time when other are struggling because of his use of Facebook and other social media sites like Twitter to promote his company.

“I’m a firm believer that people buy from people and those who follow me get a new level of access and assurance of whom they are buying from – which is so important for customers who want peace of mind that they are buying quality products from reputable companies,” he said.

“I also really appreciate that people choose to follow me and my business online which is why I want to reward that with offers such as free blinds.”

To stand a chance of winning £100 of free blinds this month all you have to do is visit www.facebook.com/apollohamilton and click the Like button.

Life’s a holiday at Apollo

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

First things first, Happy New Year.

For most people the return to work after the Christmas break is a miserable time of year – but not for some lucky so-and-sos at Apollo Blinds.

The winners of our holiday sales promotion have just been announced and a group of our star franchise owners are already planning to jet off destinations including around the world including Paris, New York and Dubai.

We had seven winners in all and one super sales team won two holidays – Dubai and New York.

We had sales leagues for each product range so the top seller in the UK would, where possible, win an appropriate holiday. The person who topped the sales league for Venetian blinds has won a trip to Venice. And so on.

The holiday competition has been a roaring success in galvanising our network of individual franchise owners across the UK. It has stimulated the camaraderie and stoked the friendly rivalry to outdo each other and bask in the glory of being super salespeople.

It’s also one of the key reasons which has helped Apollo Blinds to maintain buoyant sales in 2010. And now some of our sales superstars can plan their well-earned holidays and recharge their batteries ahead of what we expect to be an equally busy 2011.

Well done to all our winners.

Van-tastic opportunity for publicity

Friday, December 3rd, 2010

Apollo Blinds franchise owner John Youle is gearing up for some van-tastic publicity to promote his business on the Isle of Wight.

John’s business is booming and son Ben has joined the family firm – which meant they needed two new vans. So when the local dealership asked if they could publicise Apollo’s new acquisitions John didn’t have to be asked twice.

John and Ben posed for photos collecting their new vehicles and the PR team at the dealership will now pass them onto local newspapers. The expected free publicity should be great news for both Apollo Blinds and the dealership.

But the good news doesn’t stop there as there are two distinctive Apollo Blinds vans driving around the Isle of Wight so it’s double the opportunity for people to see them.

John is clearly taking a leaf out of the book of other great marketers in the Apollo Blinds network such as George Stewart who doesn’t miss a trick when it comes to publicising his business in Hamilton, Scotland.

The spin-offs of George’s PR

Friday, November 26th, 2010

George Stewart’s eye-catching publicity for his Apollo Blinds business in Hamilton near Glasgow has certainly been attracting the attention of new customers. It has also prompted other local traders in the town who have been begging him to share his secrets.

The phoneline at his showroom lit up as soon as the latest edition of his local magazine landed on the doormats of homes across the area. On Monday alone this week he took four big orders as a direct response from the article about him. He is delighted at the reaction of his latest article which focuses on his great customer service and not directly flogging blinds – as you might have expected.

In between a raft of appointments with eager customers George attended a meeting of other traders to talk to them about how he markets his business and gets free publicity. He revealed his secret weapon – the ghostwriter who drafts all his articles for him as part of the ongoing free support provided by his franchisor.

George’s business is booming and he very graciously tells everyone he meets why being part of the Apollo Blinds franchise is helping him be a success.

The Apollo advantage

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

This week our newest franchise owner has had all his expectations realised as to why he joined Apollo Blinds rather than setting up his own independent blinds company.

Neil Redpath, who owns Apollo Blinds Lancaster, has only been trading a couple of weeks but he’s been racking up the orders – even in the face of stiff competition – and it’s all because of one simple thing.

Neil Redpath Apollo Blinds Lancaster

He is using our customer care pack as the vanguard of his sales strategy and it’s the first thing he shows every customers. The pack covers the guarantee on all our products, advice on how to maintain our blinds and details of all the safety features available – which are of particular interest in homes where children play or visit.

And simply by showing them the pack first, Neil is securing orders because customers are so impressed with the level of professionalism of his franchise company in comparison to local independent companies and they want the peace of mind that only a brand like Apollo Blinds can offer.

It’s such a simple but powerful example of why Apollo blinds stands out from the crowd.
