Buddies begin blinding Belfast business

December 2007

Two school friends will be bringing an Antipodean touch to Belfast when they officially open the doors to their new Apollo Blinds showroom.

Lynn Bryson and Vivien Davidson have lived and worked in New Zealand and Australia respectively but felt the time was right to start a business in the city where they grew up and went to school together.

The duo have bought an Apollo Blinds franchise and their new store on Dublin Road will offer the widest choice of blinds for windows and conservatories in Belfast.

The girls believe they will make their franchise a big success because Lynn built up a window blinds and curtains business in Auckland which she sold to move back to Belfast. And Vivien who trained as an accountant has a strong track record after a career with international blue-chip firms.

"We've been friends since we were 12 and when Lynn came back from New Zealand we talked about starting our own business together," said Vivien.

"We both have very different skills but they complement each other perfectly and we can see a real opportunity to build a business which goes beyond merely selling window blinds.

"The current strong demand for housing throughout the north means homeowners want advice and inspiration about how to make the most of their homes and window blinds play a big part in defining the mood and atmosphere of every room in a house."
