‘Get the Look with Apollo Blinds’
Pantone has unveiled two colours of the year for 2016. Rose Quartz and Serenity are shades that, according to Pantone, nurture our psychological well-being by appealing to our sense of balance and harmony. The calming tranquil blue and warmer ‘persuasive’ pink represent an all-embracing approach to colour that is non gender specific and creates a feeling of ‘order and peace’. The colour experts at made to measure blinds specialists Apollo Blinds have picked out the best blinds to apply this look.
“Serenity is an almost ethereal shade and its calming influence is said to create feelings of ’respite and relaxation even in turbulent times’. Whether utilised in a coastal scheme, in floral patterns, stripes or as a block of colour across home accessories or an entire room, this peaceful blue hue could calm even the most uptight of homeowners.” Mike Stephen, Apollo Blinds.

Reassuring Rose Quartz
According to Pantone, Rose Quartz is a ‘persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure’.
“These colours have a real retro feel to them yet it’s hard to pin them down to one era. The prim and proper pastel shades of the 1950s are apparent, yet the carefree spirit of the 1980s also shines through. These sequin adorned vertical blinds are an exuberant, feminine and totally 80s take on the trend, whilst our more reserved floral print roller blind is a way of creating the look without overpowering the room.” Mike Stephen, Spokesperson, Apollo Blinds.
“An influence in the thinking behind Pantone’s colour selection for 2016 is ‘gender blur’ and the rejection of stereotypes. In other words, pink doesn’t have to mean feminine. Here we’ve toughened the look with a pink Twilight blind teamed with masculine accessories.”
With a new year comes a flood of new interior trends and 2016 is set to be defined by an array of dazzling geo prints, contemporary metallics and ’back-to-nature’ themes.
But what’s hot for windows this year?
Apollo Blind’s top tips include an artistic take on florals, plus some updates on existing looks to evolve window treatments in 2016.
Here’s a breakdown of Apollo Blind’s pick of the looks for the year ahead:
As digital printing techniques now allow beautiful brushstrokes and impressionistic art to be enjoyed on such a wide choice of surfaces, this will be translated in a variety of ways in our 2016 room schemes on blinds, murals and cushions.
The benefit of a natural and relaxing home are well documented. Plants can purify the air in living spaces, control humidity and help us to de-stress. That’s probably why the botanical trend has well and truly taken root. 2016 will see realistic prints of flora and fauna, decorative house plants and fabrics and designs inspired by nature create calming and organic living spaces.

Bejewelled and Must Have Metallics
This trend adds a new dimension to a neutral scheme and is ideal for those who follow more minimalist codes. Create restful sanctuaries and escapes with clean lines and neutral hues, but inject crystals, gems, metallics and shiny skin effect fabrics, as well as subtle tones, to stark white, to update the home for 2016.
Shine like a star and show us your mettle in 2016 by adding a luxe dimension or a space age spin on interiors with copper, gold, silver and metal effects gem stones and crystal accessories for a glamorous boutique look.

Geometry with a flexible form is travelling into 2016’s trend list. Fluidity is the key word, with graphic designs that denote movement and a state of flux and geometric shapes which are out of focus with soft blurred edges. Source: Interior Design Trends to Watch for in 2016

Apollo Blinds, the UK’s largest network of stores selling made-to-measure blinds, has launched One Touch™ a fantastic new automated blind system. At just £75 it marks a break-though in the price of operating blinds via a remote control or a pre-set programme (previous operating systems cost around £260).
Whether it’s for a practical reason – a room contains more than four or five blinds, because you can’t reach a blind tucked behind a sofa or you have a mobility issue.
Or have you ever lay in bed and wanted to lift the blinds or throw back the curtains but couldn’t bear to get out into the cold? Perhaps you want to add another layer of security to your home – tricking burglars into thinking you’re home with blinds that open and close automatically? It could be because you love the latest tech gadgets for the home, or simply ‘you’re just lazy’; operating blinds by remote control and automated blinds are a must in 2016.
Automated blinds are no longer the domain of wealthy homeowners as Apollo Blinds introduces a new affordable motorised One Touch™ solution offering automation functions and reliability, but at a fraction of the price.
Mike Stephen of Apollo Blinds said: ‘Mass motorisation’ is due to hit homes in 2016. At just £75 (which includes remote control and lithium battery charger), homeowners can now put their feet up and enjoy a little luxury – for less. It’s one of those things that, once you have it, you can’t live without.”
This low cost option is available on any of Apollo’s brand new Roller Blind Collection.
The Apollo Blinds One Touch™ motorised system offers simple, convenient and easy to use operation for blinds.
