Photography Competition – #MyApolloView

It seems the #MyApolloView competition has really captured your imagination and inspired some beautiful photography.  Our news feeds have been inundated with breath-taking and heart-warming views from across the globe.

From cute kittens to summer getaways, we’ve really enjoyed seeing a window into your world.  And we want to see more, so we’ve picked out a few of our favourites (so far) as inspiration.

@kevinsmith105 sent us this beautiful picture of his children via Twitter.  We’re not sure how anyone else fits in the bed but it’s a super cute view to wake up to.


This sleepy kitten, sent to us via Instagram, looks so snuggly.


You’ve really showcased what a beautiful country we live in.  The sunset in Newquay could rival anywhere in the world.


And what about this view of the beach at Whitby? A place that, we are sure, holds very special memories for @SLStevo.


@DLHidderley sent us this gorgeous view of a bandstand at the local park.


We love this shot of a snowy Central Park in New York.




And this picture from @mrsbagnall2b of a 93-year old lady meeting her newborn great-grandson is just beautiful.

Remember, your view can be anything that makes you smile.  It can be what you see from your window or a glimpse into your home; a picture of your favourite countryside vista or a holiday snap taken beachside; it might even be a nostalgic view that is special to you, or just something or someone you look forward to seeing. Your entry could be a person/pet as well as a place. The choice is yours!

Clever twit George has gone radio gaga

George Stewart from Apollo Blinds Hamilton has taken his use of social media to a new level this week in order to get free publicity for his business.

He’s following in the footsteps of all the A-list celebs by announcing news on his Twitter and Facebook pages. And this week he revealed the new look for his showroom and van.

Apollo HamiltonGeorge has incorporated Facebook and Twitter logos on his shop signage and van livery as a way of promoting his presence on the social media sites.

But, not content with that, George has been using social media to strike up an online friendship with Clyde 1 DJ and Scottish Sun columnist Robin Galloway…..and George is now getting free mentions on the radio from his new newfound buddy.

Cheeky George knew Robin lived in Hamilton so asked him to be a fan of his Apollo Blinds Hamilton Facebook page and the banter has carried on from there with Robin reading some of the one-liner jokes that have become George’s trademark.

As a result, he has got mentions twice this week and knowing George he’s going to milk it for all its worth.

George we salute you and I’m sure you’ll be using this blog as more publicity for your business!

“Do Apollo Blinds franchise owners work together and support each other?” This is one of the most common FAQs asked of us by people thinking of becoming part of our network when they attend our Discovery Days.

The answer is a big fat yes.

We have a bag full of examples of our franchise owners collaborating, passing each other business and keeping in constant touch with one another on a daily basis.

Only this week George Stewart (pictured picking up his recent awards from Apollo Blinds Hamilton spent six hours working with Liz Ritchie from Apollo Blinds Bishopbriggs showing her how to use social media to market her business.

The same day Liz @apollobbriggs began tweeting to George @ApolloHamilton and the rest of the world. And she’s not looked back since, tweeting about all sorts of things including posting pictures of her lovely new van. George and Liz also have a great banter with lots of other franchise owners on Facebook as well.

So when we are asked if our franchise owners get on well, we also say get online and see for yourself.

George is no PR Twit

George Stewart at Apollo Blinds in Hamilton is fast becoming our king of social networking because he is using Facebook and Twitter to help promote his business.

After only a few weeks of using the social networking sites, the 47-year-old built up a loyal band of fans who follow his exploits and share a slice of his life running a busy window blinds business in Scotland.
He has connected his Apollo website with his Facebook and Twitter accounts giving him more opportunities to be found online. And it’s working. George has made his first sales as a direct result of both Twitter and Facebook.

George is finding it’s such a simple but effective way to market his business by spending a just a few spare moments each day telling the world what he’s up to.
