Blinds industry's 62% sales rise

Apollo Blinds has welcomed the publication of Mintel's new Window Furnishings and Accessories report which a 62% growth in the sales of window blinds over the last five years and says that the industry's sales hit an all-time high of 445 million in 2006.

The report - from the leading global supplier of consumer, product and media intelligence - puts the growth in demand down to blinds being easy to maintain and the trend for simple and casual decor in the home.

Apollo Blinds' is delighted that such an authoritative study has highlighted how prosperous the industry is and expects a glut of enquiries from people who will want to start their own franchise business with his company's network.

The report's results found that Venetian blinds accounted for nearly a quarter (24%) of sales at 105 million, closely followed by soft blinds (including Roman, Austrian and Festoon) valued at 100 million. The remainder of the market is made up of Verticals (22%) with sales of 98 million and Rollers (17%) at 75 million and Pleated (10%) valued at 44 million.
