Love trends? So do we.

Here’s what’s trending on Pinterest and some top tips for what will be trending in interiors for 2026 (yes, we know it’s only September but it’s good to be in the know now!)

Interiors in an Age of Intention

Overall, TrendBible – in its Big Picture 2026 Macro Trends – says that interior design speaks to a “Age of Intention”, where design decisions reflect wellbeing, purpose, and sustainability.

Spaces now demand to be multipurpose because we want more than a traditional approach to our interiors which are as much about how they make us feel as how they look. Living rooms pivot between work, relaxation and hosting; bedrooms are about better sleep but also a space for curating our clothing collections.

Look out for flexible furniture layouts, stress reducing materials, natural light and comfort-centric décor.

Voluptuous Seating

Some of the key trends from this year’s Milan Design Week that 2026 interiors will embrace include bulky, sculptural seating (for example bubble sofas like Roche Bobois’s designs). Some are terming it ‘fat furniture’ – and it’s all about oversized, cosy sculptural seating as comfy pieces and statement, focal elements. The enduring appeal of bouclé fabric is continuing in 2026 too. This is a great look for cosy, tactile sofas and accent pieces all continuing to play a major role in 2026 interiors. It’s all about heritage and softness.

Freehand Artistry & Heritage-Style Designs

Freehand artistry and brushstroke motifs in items such as carpets and ceramics is another design approach to watch. The style is imperfect brushwork – a pushback against sterile perfection, favouring human touch and drama.

Expect a resurgence of heritage-style wallpaper, featuring intricate florals, damasks, and traditional motifs, especially in smaller spaces like bathrooms.

Bold floral patterns, reminiscent of vintage interiors (à la Bette Davis’s 1950s living room), are predicted to resurge. Whether used boldly or subtly, florals will bring character to modern homes—particularly effective in accessories, curtains, or statement furnishings.

Transformative Teal and Warm Neutrals

WGSN – one of the world’s top trend-forecasting agencies headquartered in London has declared Transformative Teal (a rich blend of blue and green) as its Colour of the Year for 2026. It symbolises an “Earth-first mindset,” planetary resilience, and environmental positivity.

Other top trend spotters also strongly predict 2026 will lean heavily into green tones from teal and olive to farmhouse greens, complemented by warm neutrals like milk chocolate brown, golden yellow, and vibrant celery. These colours reflect biophilic connection, comfort, and nostalgia.

Sherwin‑Williams unveiled four key 2026 palettes grounded in deep trend analysis and consumer insight:

  • Frosted Tints – soft pastels like lavender, aqua, calming greens for spa-like interiors.
  • Sunbaked Hues – warm terracottas, saffrons, rich reds with a modern yet nostalgic vibe.
  • Restorative Darks – deep, soothing tones ideal for bedrooms and intimate spaces.
  • Foundational Neutrals – nuanced alternatives to basic whites and greys, offering depth and flexibility.

Our conclusion? Forget the faded trends – 2026 is about being bold, thoughtful, and soul-deep: integrating expressive colour, sculptural comfort, human artistry, and purpose-driven design across multifunctional, sustainable foundations.
