Apollo Blinds at 50

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Apollo Blinds.

Founded in 1972 in Scotland, we have grown to become Britain’s biggest window blinds network, offering the widest choice of superior made-to-measure window blinds, shutters, awnings and curtains in the UK.

And our specially trained installation teams install your window coverings so they are fitted exactly as our manufacturing teams specify so that they work precisely as they should.

All of which means that Apollo Blinds is a recognised and trusted brand that generations of homeowners have relied on for quality window coverings.

The Apollo Blinds story

Our story started in 1972 when our founders recruited a network of distributors to sell the blinds they were manufacturing.

They then moved to Glasgow, which coincided with a massive surge in the popularity of Venetian blinds, the first shop to open was in Airdrie, Scotland: it sold 120 Venetian blinds in its first week!

By 1975, within just three years, 30 other shops had opened in Scotland, and factory production peaked at 4,500 blinds per week.

In 1977, Apollo Blinds was one of the original members of the British Franchise Association (bfa), and it continues to be an attractive turnkey business opportunity for people to run their own window blinds businesses as part of the Apollo Blinds network.

In 1994, the Apollo Blinds franchise business became part of Hunter Douglas: an international company and the world’s largest manufacturer of window blinds. And the network has not looked back since because our franchisees continue to benefit from access to innovative products and on-trend collections – meaning they can offer the widest choice of quality made-to-measure window blinds, shutters, curtains and awnings in their local areas.

Today, there are more than 50 Apollo Blinds across the UK, from the Guernsey in the south and Swansea in the west right up to Aberdeen in the north.
