Keeping Your Apollo Blinds Looking Fresh & New
One of the great things about choosing blinds from Apollo is their ability to be easily cleaned to keep them looking newer for longer. Investing a little bit of time regularly to dust and clean your blinds as part of your home hygiene routine is time well spent.
Here are a few of our cleaning tips and remember if you’ve got any questions relating to your particular type of blind, or a problematic stain or mark, just contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
An Ostrich feather duster gently collects dust, and thanks to their inherent magnetic properties the feathers effectively trap the dust without leaving static electricity behind. For a weekly once-over, a feather duster is all you need.
Treat with care to avoid bending the slats – gentle pressure is all that’s needed. If the blinds are very dusty,
a quick vacuum using the upholstery brush attachment will work wonders, followed by a careful rub down with a lightly dampened microfibre cloth. If you wish, you can use a thoroughly diluted mild household detergent but take care not to soak the blinds.
These robust blinds respond well to a light dusting with a clean, dry cloth. Again, for more dusty roller blinds the vacuum can be used with its upholstery brush attachment.
All your gorgeous statement shutters need is regular dusting with a feather duster and clean, lint-free cloth will remove fingerprints.
This more opulent style of blind can be cleaned using the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Some fabrics can be dry cleaned, however always check with your local Apollo Blinds advisor that your blinds are suitable for dry cleaning.
Gentle pressure with a clean, dry cloth will restore these lovely blinds to box-fresh condition.
Clean using the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner on the lowest setting and take extra
care around cords and chains.
Blinds let the natural beauty of wood shine again by gently buffing with a dry lint free cloth or an ostrich feather duster, available from your Apollo Blinds retailer.
The casings of your Awning can be cleaned with a sponge and mild detergent. For the fabric, sponge down with lukewarm soapy water and a cloth. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleaning techniques such as pressure washing or strong chemicals, as this may strip away protective coatings on the fabric or cause finishes to fade.
Safety First For Peace Of Mind
Apollo Blinds have a strong commitment to safety throughout the design of our products – it is of paramount importance to us to design and install products that meet the most stringent European safety standards EN13120).
Here are the standards and safety features we work to:
All roller and wide bodied vertical blinds installations incorporate this feature, so if the chain experiences sudden stress the breakout unit will break apart, freeing the obstruction.
All blinds are supplied with cord retaining or tensioning devices that keeps the cord taught or out of the
way when the blind is installed.
These brackets are supplied with venetian blinds so that cords can be wrapped around the cleat. This
prevents cords trailing at low level and creating a hazard that can be particularly dangerous for small
children or pets.
It is against the law for blinds with looped cords to be fitted without the cord at the correct height and/or with the proper tensioning devices under the legislation EN13120. Therefore, all blinds (with the exception of
blinds that are safe by design) are supplied with a tensioning devices or cleats that retain the cord or reduces the slack when the blind is installed.
Our INTU® blinds are tensioned by a system called ‘Perfect Fit’ that as well as fitting a window or door frame seamlessly, do not us any cords at all. These blinds are ideal for nurseries or children’s bedrooms.
Elegance and standard vertical blinds can be controlled by a simple twist wand to position the slats to increase or reduce light flow – no need for a control cord or chain.
Apollo’s ‘slow-rise’ system removes the need for chains and gives a controlled, smooth operation on one easy movement.
If you are thinking of investing in any type of blind, make sure you entrust a reputable and ethical retailer and installer, such as Apollo Blinds, as inferior or imported blinds can seriously endanger vulnerable people (the elderly, children, babies) by posing a choking hazard in the event of becoming trapped in the cord mechanism. If you have a particular need for enhanced safety, please talk to us and we can explain exactly what options are going to give you the greatest peace of mind.
